Harper Forum: October 26, Alison Teare from the Chartered institute of Marketing

On Thursday 26th October at Harper Forum we welcomed Alison Teare from the Chartered institute of Marketing (CIM).
She spoke on “Social media and the secret world of Agriculture”. During the talk she outlined challenges farm businesses have in connecting with the general public and emphasised a need for further action in this area.
She spoke on how everybody must play there part in promoting British farming in order to change the traditional ‘brand agriculture’. Details were given about how farmers have embraced the use of twitter and how successful this has been connecting to certain generations. She finished by outlining the importance of LinkedIn and how this can be used as a networking tool by students to further their careers.
CIM support, develop and represent the marketing profession as a whole. The CIM offers opportunities such as training and business growth strategies that can help companies to offer better marketing solutions.
This week, Thursday 2nd November, we have Abi Reader former Welsh woman farmer of the year who will be talking about her life as a dairy farmer in Wales.
It will be held in the Regional Food Academy at 7PM and all staff and students are welcome!
